Breaking a Perception in the Classroom

We often tend to categorize students by where they sit.
“Backbenchers aren’t serious.”
“Frontbenchers are the diligent ones.”

Today, that perception was challenged in the most unexpected way.
During a surprise evaluation, the results turned my assumptions upside down. The backbenchers-often labeled as inattentive-scored full marks. When questioned further by their peers, they confidently answered every question with clarity.

That moment reminded me of an important truth: labels limit growth.
A growth mindset invites us to look beyond stereotypes and see potential everywhere. It teaches us that effort, curiosity, and learning are not defined by where you sit, but by how you think.

At The Growth Mindset, we believe in questioning assumptions, breaking limiting beliefs, and creating spaces where every learner feels seen for their potential-not their position.

Because true growth begins when we stop categorizing and start believing.
